Raleigh’s Fayetteville Street serves as the capital city’s primary civic and celebratory corridor. Like many downtown urban streetscapes, however, it has struggled to regain vitality and commercial activity in the post-pandemic era. Matt was engaged to assess the street’s existing conditions and develop design recommendations aimed at enhancing the public realm and attracting residents and visitors back downtown. The resulting vision included both short-term and long-term strategies, along with a range of improvements scaled for varying budget levels. The recommendations were well received by the community and ultimately received expedited approval to advance toward implementation.
